Analysis

The acft caught fire during takeoff roll and continued to burn after the aborted takeoff. Prior to this flt the operatorhad experienced difficulty with the carburator on this engine. On this flt the acft was being ferried for carburetor maintenance. During takeoff roll the engine'belched' and flames were visible from the cockpit. The plt closed the throttle to abort but did not cut the mixture until after he stopped and saw the fire was still burning. There is no indication of what he did with the fuel selector valve or ignition switches. After exiting the cockpit he successfully attempted to put out the fire.
