Probable cause
Failure of the pilot to maintain adequate airspeed, which resulted in an inadvertent stall. The proximity of the trees were a factor.
Sequence of events
NTSB’s coding before 2008: each occurrence and phase of flight, and the causes and factors under it. The codes are defined in NTSB’s coding manual.
Analysis
The airplane was in the turn to final approach when it stalled. The pilot recovered from the stall, but the plane's right wing hit a treetop & the airplane crashed.
