Probable cause
The pilot failed to maintain aircraft contyrol. A factor was turbulence.
Sequence of events
NTSB’s coding before 2008: each occurrence and phase of flight, and the causes and factors under it. The codes are defined in NTSB’s coding manual.
Analysis
The aircraft encountered turbulence during a crosswind approach to a private grass strip. The pilot lost control of the aircraft and the right wing impacted trees and terrain.
