On December 18, 1993, at 1323 central standard time, a Cessna 182Q, N96591, was destroyed during a forced landing, near Dalhart, Texas. The pilot/owner sustained serious injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the personal flight.
During an interview with a Federal Aviation Administration inspector, the pilot reported that three minutes after takeoff from Dalhart Municipal Airport the engine lost power. He further stated that he was at an altitude of 500 feet and was forced to land on unsuitable terrain.
