Summary

This document proposes the adoption of a new airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to certain Airbus Model A319, A320, and A321 series airplanes. This proposal would require modifications of route segregation between the low voltage wire bundles of the fuel quantity indicating system and the high voltage wire bundles of the ground power control unit. This action is necessary to prevent injection of 115 volt alternating current (VAC) into 28 volt direct current (VDC) wire bundles, which could result in high voltage conditions within the fuel tank and the potential for damage to equipment, electrical arcing, and fuel vapor ignition on the ground. This action is intended to address the identified unsafe condition.
