Summary
This document revises an earlier proposed airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Boeing Model 757 series airplanes, that would have required inspection of certain fuse pins, and replacement of certain fuse pins with certain other fuse pins. That proposal was prompted by the development of new corrosion-resistant steel fuse pins. This action revises the proposed rule by including a requirement for inspections of refinished straight fuse pins and replacement of cracked refinished straight fuse pins with certain other straight fuse pins. The actions specified by this proposed AD are intended to prevent cracking of the midspar fuse pins, which may lead to separation of the strut and engine from the wing of the airplane.
