Summary
This document withdraws a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that would have applied to certain Industrie Aeronautiche e Meccaniche (I.A.M.) Model Piaggio P-180 airplanes. The NPRM, if followed with a final rule, would have required installing a shield on the front section of the engine cradles. Airworthiness Directive (AD) 96-09-09 currently requires the same action as is proposed in this NPRM. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inadvertently prepared and issued this NPRM. With this in mind, the FAA has determined that the proposed rule should be withdrawn. This withdrawal does not prevent the FAA from taking future rulemaking on this subject.
