Summary
We propose to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This proposed AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:
This Airworthiness Directive (AD) is issued following the discovery of a potential chafing between the rheostat of the 3rd crew member control panel reading light and the air gasper flexible hose, or with the electrical wires nearby. If le[f]t uncorrected, this chafing may expose the metallic spiral armature of the flexible hose, or damage the electrical wires insulation, which could result in a short-circuit generating sustained overheating and smoke emission. * * * * * The proposed AD would require actions that are intended to address the unsafe condition described in the MCAI.
