Summary
We propose to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This proposed AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:
An operator reported a short circuit between a generator power cable and an anti-ice shutoff valve, which was caused by chafing between the cable and the valve; the insulation of the cable and surrounding sleeve were worn off. An investigation revealed that a scarce clearance between the cables and adjacent parts, together with vibrations of generator power cables favoured by insufficient clamping, was the root cause of the damage. If left uncorrected, this situation could lead to short circuits with possible fire and/or loss of important aircraft systems.
The proposed AD would require actions that are intended to address the unsafe condition described in the MCAI.
