Summary
We propose to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S.A. (EMBRAER) Model ERJ 190 airplanes. This proposed AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:
It has been found the occurrence of damage on the rod end of the Main Landing Gear (MLG) retraction actuator. The ANAC [Ag[ecirc]ncia Nacional de Avia[ccedil][atilde]o Civil] is issuing this AD to prevent breakage of the MLG retracting actuator rod, which may result in MLG extension with no hydraulic damping and consequent damage to the locking mechanism and collapse of the MLG.
