Introduction The purpose of this Special Airworthiness Information Bu lletin (SAIB) is to advise owners/operators of FFT Gyroflug Model SC 01 Speed Canard airplanes of the need to review the service bulletins listed below, and of the demise of the FFT firm.
Background The Small Airplane Directorate, Aircraft Certificati on Service, of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) conducted a review of foreign (German) Airworthin ess Directives (ADs) applicable to the FFT Gyroflug Model SC 01 Speed Canard airplanes. The purpose of the review was to evaluate each foreign (German) Airworthiness Directives to determine the continued airw orthiness safety aspect with respect to operations in the United States. The options considered by the F AA included: mandated compliance by initiation of an FAA AD, various forms of notices, or no further action required.
The FAA was notified on June 23, 1998 by the German airworthiness authority that the FFT firm is no longer in business; airworthiness information must be obtained through the German airworthiness authority.
Recommendation The service bulletins and foreign ADs identified in this document (except as noted below) were not considered appropriate for AD action at this time, however, the F AA strongly suggests that all owners/operators of the FFT Gyroflug Model SC 01 Speed Canard airplanes revi ew their compliance with the service bulletins listed below.
