Introduction The purpose of this Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin is to advise operators of Dornier Model 28 airplanes of the need to review the service information listed below.
Background The Small Airplane Directorate, Aircraft Certificati on Service, of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) conducted a review of specified Dornier Model 27 a nd 28 airplanes service bulletins. The purpose of the review was to evaluate each service bulletin to dete rmine the continued airworthiness safety aspect. The options considered by the FAA included: mandate d compliance by initiation of an FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD), various forms of notices, or no further action required.
Owners/operators of Dornier Model 27 and 28 airplanes should also note that there have been Airworthiness Directives issued against these airplanes concerning other safety issues.
Recommendations The service information identified in this document is not considered appropriate for AD action at this time, however, the FAA strongly suggests that all owners/opera tors of the Dornier Model 28 airplanes review their compliance with the service information listed below.
