Introduction This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) alerts you, an owner or operator of the Panstwowe Zaklady Lotnicze (PZL) PZL-104M Wilga 2000, PZL-104MN Wilga 2000 and PZL- 104MF Wilga 2000 Series aircraft, that EADS PZL has issued Mandatory Service Bulletins (MSB) No. 104M02035 and No. 104MF02005, both dated December 17, 2002. The Service Bulletins alert owners and operators of a replacement of the oil flexible hose part number (P/N) R104.62.303.00-6 on certain airplanes specified in the service bulletins. MSB No. 104M02035 is for PZL-104M and PZL-104MN series airplanes with the following serial numbers (S/N): 00970002, 00970003, 00990009, 00010010, 00010011, 00010012 and 00010014. MSB No. 104MF02005 is for PZL- 104MF series airplanes with the following s/n: 00980004, 00990005, 00990007, and 00990008.

Background Per the EADS-PZL service bulletin, damage was found on the oil flexible hose P/N R104.62.303.00-6 during operation of the PZL-104MF Wilga 2000 aircraft with serial number 00980004. This hose connects the oil cooler and an elbow on the engine. As a result of the damage, oil leaked out of the system and forced the pilot to land the aircraft. The damage appears to be brought about by improper installation of the hose on the aircraft, which caused the hose to crumple and eventually break.

The Airworthiness Authority of Poland, General Inspectorate of Civil Aviation (GICA) has issued Airworthiness Directive (AD) No. SP-0128-2002-A and No. SP-0129-2002-A, both dated 12/17/02, to mandate replacement of the oil flexible hose, P/N R104.62.303.00-6, per the above referenced EADS PZL mandatory service bulletins. The actions of the GICA AD were to be done upon receipt of the service bulletins.

Recommendation We recommend that you accomplish the actions of EADS PZL MSB No. 104M02035 and MSB No. 104MF02005 dated December 17, 2002 as soon as possible.
