Introduction

This Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin informs you, owners and operators of British Aerospace Regional Aircraft (BAE Systems) Jetstream 3101, 3201, and HP137 MK1 series aircraft, that BAE Systems has issued a mandatory service bulletin (SB) 57-JA020740, issue 1, to inspect bolts at the wing stub spigot post assembly at frame 199.

Background

We have received in-service reports of failed bolts at the wing stub spigot post assembly at frame

199. The results of the fatigue failures are either installation of incorrect bolts or from the bolt tightening torque being too low. If left uncorrected, failure of these bolts will severely compromise the structural integrity of the wing to fuselage attachment.

Recommendation

We highly recommend that you perform the inspection and possible correction as described in BAE Systems’ SB referenced above.
