STRONG OIL SMELL NOTICED IN COCKPIT DURING CLIMB-OUT. MAINTENANCE WAS ABLE TO VERIFY DISCREPANCY AND FOUND THE NR 1 CARBON SEAL ON THE LEFT ENGINE FAILED. REPLACED SEAL, OPS CHECK NORMAL.
