ON LEFT ENGINE START, ENGINE VALVE DID NOT EXTINGUISH, ABORTED START. AICRAFT BACK TO BLOCK AND GROUNDED BY MAINTENANCE. MAINTENANCE REMOVED AND REPLACED LEFT ENGINE CONDITION MOTOR. IAW 76-11-01 OPS CHECK GOOD. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.
