FLIGHT 2961 - EWR - FLIGHT CREW REPORTED MAIN AND BACK UP PITCH TRIM INOPERATIVE ON CLIMBOUT. CREW PERFORMED AIR RETURN AND LANDED ACFT UNEVENTFULLY. EWR MX REMOVED AND REPLACED HORIZONTAL STABILIZER CONTROL UNIT AND PERFORMED OPERATIONAL CHECK SUCCESSFULLY. ACFT WAS APPROVED TO RETURN TO SERVICE.
