A6WE McDonnell Douglas DC-9 Description of Type Design Change : Installation of a Stage 3 Hush Kit on McDonnell Douglas DC-9-21, -31, - 32, -32F, and -33F aircraft when powered by: (1) Pra tt & Whitney JT8D-7 series e ngines in accordance with ABS Partnership Master Drawing List MDL-009-051-91, No Re vision, dated March 25, 1992, or later FAA approved revision; or, (2) Pratt & Whitney JT8D -9 series engines in accordance with ABS Partnership Mast er Drawing List MDL-009-001-90, Revision B, dated April 19, 1991, or later F AA approved revision. Salient features of these type design changes include respaced inlet guide vanes (RIGV) and tailpipe area of 5,055 sq. ft.
1. FAA approved Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (A FM) dated April 24, 1992, or later FAA approved revision is required with this modification when Pratt & Whitney JT8D-7 series engines are installed.
2. FAA approved AFM Supplement dated June 13, 1991, or later FAA approved revision is required with this modification when Pratt & Whitney JT8D-9 series engines are installed.
If the holder agrees to permit another person to use this certificate to alter the product, the holder shall give the other person written evidence of that permission. (See Page 3 for continuation)

3. FAA approved “DC-9 Maintenance Manual Supplementa l Information” dated March 27, 1995, or later FAA approved revision is required with this modification for the model DC-9-21.
4. This approval should not be extended to other airc raft of this model on which other previously approved modifications are incorporated unless it is determined by the installer that the interrelationship between this change and any of those previ ously approved modifications will introduce no adverse effect upon the airworthiness of that aircraft.
