3 Civil Air
Installation of Piper PA-14 wings, modification of lift struts, lengthening of the fuselage, installation of Piper PA-18 “150” empennage, and associated control system changes in accordance with Jake’s Aircraft Salvage Drawing List No. N8191, dated October 30, 1986, or later FAA approved revision.
To be eligible for this installation, the aircraft must also be modified in accordance with STC No. SA45RM (conversion from tricycle to tail wheel type landing gear) and STC No. SA11RM (installation of Cleveland or McCauley wheels and brakes). Except for these two modifications, the approval of this change in type design applies only to the basic Piper Model PA-22-150 and to those PA-22-160 airplanes that have had an optional 150 HP engine installed per Item 106 of Aircraft Specification No. 1A6. This approval should not be extended to other aircraft of these models on which other previously approved modifications are incorporated unless it is determined by the installer that the modifications will introduce no adverse effect on the airworthiness of that aircraft. This determination should include consideration of significant changes in weight distribution such as an increase in the fixed disposable weight in the fuselage.
Airplanes equipped with this installation must be operated in accordance with FAA approved Airplane Flight Manual Supplement, dated November 10, 1986, or later FAA approved revision.
