4H10 Hiller UH-12D Description of Type Design Change: Installation of an agricultural spray system in accordance with FAA approved Soloy Conversions, Ltd. Drawing List No. 560-801 which consists of tank and booms from Simplex Manufacturing Company Aerial Spray System Drawing List No.

A-3000 and a Soloy-design pump drive system.

NOTE: Only those Hiller UH-12D rotorcraft which have been converted to turbine power in accordance with STC SH177WE are eligible for this modification.

Limitations and Conditions: Approval of this change in type design applies to the above model rotorcraft only. The intended use of the modified rotorcraft is for restricted category operations only. A copy of this Certificate must be maintained as part of the permanent records for the modified rotorcraft. The limitations and conditions of Rotorcraft Type Certificate 4H10 and STC SH177WE apply except as outlined on page 3 and 4 of this STC. If the holder agrees to permit another person to use this certificate to alter the product, the holder shall give the other person written evidence of that permission.

This certificate and the supporting data, which is the basis for approval, shall remain in effect until surrendered, suspended, revoked or a termination date is otherwise established by the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.

1. Applicability

a. The approval of this change in type design applies to the basic Hiller Model UH-12D rotorcraft as modified by STC SH177WE. This approval should not be extended to other rotorcraft of this model on which other previously approved modifications are incorporated unless it is determined that the interrelationship between this change and any of those other previously approved modifications will introduce no adverse effect upon the airworthiness of that rotorcraft.

b. The approval is for the combination of Soloy and Simplex equipment described in Soloy Drawing List No. 560-801 only. Any other spray system used in conjunction with the Soloy pump drive system must evaluated and approved by the FAA.

c. The upper gearbox-mounted hydraulic pump, as installed on the Soloy/Hiller rotorcraft, has been evaluated up to a steady running load of 18 H.P. (maximum) at a pump shaft speed of 2324 R.P.M.

2. Rotorcraft Flight Manual Supplement

FAA approved Soloy Conversions, Ltd. Rotorcraft Flight Manual Supplement RFMS-6 for the agricultural spray system is required together with the FAA approved Soloy Conversions, Ltd.

Rotorcraft Flight Manual dated April 10, 1975, in lieu of that specified for the basic unmodified Model UH-12D. Refer to the applicable portions of this FAA approved Soloy Conversions, Ltd. Rotorcraft Flight Manual Supplement for required placards. The modified rotorcraft is approved for restricted category operation only.
