Description of the Type Design Change:

Certification of Honeywell MK-XXI Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) in accordance with Cert Works Document No. CW0603-1003, Master Installation Drawing List (MIDL), Airbus Heli. AS350B2/AS350B3 MK XXI HTAWS, Revision IR dated 4/6/2016, or later FAA approved revision. Refer to the configuration control drawings listed in CW0603-1003 Section 2: Configurations for required Rotorcraft Flight Manual Supplements and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness applicable to the modification configuration.

1. The application of this STC requires previously installed and approved equipment. Refer to the STC installation data defined in CW0603-1003, Master Installation Drawing List (MIDL), Airbus Heli.

AS350B2/AS350B3 MK XXI HTAWS for equipment requirements.

2. The installer must determine whether this design change is compatible with previously approved modifications.

Certification Basis:

Based on 14 CFR §§ 21.115 and 21.101, and the FAA policy for significant changes in FAA Order 8110.48, the certification basis for the Airbus Heli. AS350B2/AS350B3 installation of Honeywell MK-XXI Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) Certification is as follows:

b. The certification basis for parts changed or affected by the change since the reference date of application, December 14, 2015, is based upon 14 CFR Part 27, effective February 1, 1965 plus Amendments 27-1 through 27-10, in addition regulations at amendment levels defined for the incorporation of the modification OP3369 per the TCDS. Based on 14 CFR §§ 21.115 and 21.101, and the FAA policy for significant changes in FAA Order 8110.48, the certification basis for this modification was determined to be:
