Description of the Type Design Change:

Certification of Honeywell MK XXI Helicotper Terrain Awareness and Warning System in accordance with Document No. CW0603-1016, Master Installation Drawing List, Agusta A109E MK XXI HTAWS, Revision IR dated 3/23/2017, FAA approved 3/29/2017 or later FAA approved revision. Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), Document No. CW0720-1121, Revision IR dated 3/9/2017, FAA Accepted 3/29/2017, or later FAA accepted revision are required to be made available at installation. FAA Approved Rotorcraft Flight Manual Supplement, Document No. CW0710-1123, Revision IR dated 3/2/2017, FAA Approved 3/29/2017, or later FAA approved revision is required for this modification.

1. The installation of this STC requires previously installed and approved equipment. Refer to the STC installation data defined in CW0603-1016, Master Installation Drawing List, Agusta A109E MK XXI HTAWS for equipment requirements.

2. The installer must determine whether this design change is compatible with previously approved modifications.

3. If the holder agrees to permit another person to use this certificate to alter a product, the holder must give the other person written evidence of that permission.

Certification Basis:

Based on 14 CFR §§ 21.115 and 21.101, and the FAA policy for significant changes in FAA Order 8110.48, the certification basis for the Agusta A109E installation of Honeywell MK XXI Helicotper Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) is as follows:

a. The type certification basis for Agusta A109E helicopter is shown on TCDS H7EU for parts not changed or not affected by the change.

b. The certification basis for parts changed or affected by the change since the reference date of application, November 29, 2016, is based upon 14 CFR Part 27, effective February 1, 1965 plus Amendments 27-1 through 27-8, plus later amendments for certain regulations, as defined per the TCDS. Based on 14 CFR §§ 21.115 and
