Description of the Type Design Change: Either or both replacement Aerometals Tail Rotor Transmission Input and Output Gearshaft Assemblies in accordance with Aerometals Master Drawing List Aero-MDL-012, Revision A, dated April 6, 2011, or later FAA-approved revision. Installation and maintenance in accordance with MD Helicopter Inc. (MDHI) Maintenance Manual CSP-HMI-2, Revision 43, dated December 23, 2009, or later FAA- accepted revision, and Component Overhaul Manual CSP-COM-5, Revision 17, dated July 28, 2007, or later FAA-accepted revision, except as noted on the continuation sheet.
Limitations and Conditions: Approval of this change in type design applies to the rotorcraft listed above only.
This approval should not be extended to other rotorcraft of this model on which other previously approved modifications are incorporated unless it is determined by the installer that the relationship between this change and any of the other previously approved modifications, including changes in type design, will introduce no adverse effect upon the airworthiness of that rotorcraft.
A copy of this certificate must be maintained as part of the permanent record of the modified rotorcraft.

The life limits for Aerometals replacement Tail Rotor Transmission Input and Output Gearshaft Assemblies are noted in the table below.
Any decrease in the mandatory replacement time specified in the MDHI Airworthiness Limitations Replacement Schedule for the MDHI parts must be adhered to by the operator of the Aerometals replacement parts.
Any increase in the mandatory replacement time specified in the MDHI Airworthiness Limitations Replacement Schedule for the MDHI parts does not apply to the Aerometals replacements parts.
