1. The installer must determine whether this design change is compatible with previously approved modifications.

2. If the holder agrees to permit another person to use this certificate to alter a product, the holder must give the other person written evidence of that permission.

FAA certification of installations -501, -503, and -505 was limited to the evaluation of the electronic countermeasure equipment’s effects on the safe operation of the aircraft, and does not connote FAA endorsement of the effectiveness of the equipment in countering a Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) threat. In addition, the FAA has not evaluated the safety of the infrared (IR) laser for use on the ground or in the air. Operation of the IR laser, to include appropriate laser safety training for flight crew and maintenance personnel, should be in accordance with the intent of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standards Z136.1, Safe Use of Lasers, and Z136.6, Use of Lasers Outdoor.

4. The -503 DIRCM configuration is a required prerequisite for the installation of the -507 LAIRCM configuration.

5. Approval of the -507 configuration is limited to the installation of GLTA, MWS and GPS for "safe carriage", and the installation of "provisions only" for the remainder of the system. The FAA has not certified the equipment installed for safe carriage or for which the provisions are intended. You must get additional FAA approval to install this equipment. The FAA must evaluate the installation to ensure it complies with the applicable airworthiness standards.

7. This approval is for public-use or government use aircraft only.

8. For -507 Configuration: This modification has been determined by the FAA to be no acoustic change in accordance with 14 CFR 21.93(b).
