Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) Document No. 5755-2170-00, Rev IR, dated November 17, 2020, or later FAA accepted revision, is a required part of this modification. Airworthiness Limitations inspections per 14 CFR Part 25, Appendix H are contained in Chapter 14 of the ICA.

The FAA has reviewed the applicant's assessment showing that this modification does not impact the existing electrical wiring interconnection system instructions for continued airworthiness (EWIS ICA) and found that no additional EWIS ICA tasks are required.

This STC is contingent on prior incorporation of full structural provisions for the mounting of the VHF antenna, certificated by Type Certificate or Supplemental Type Certificate.

The type certification basis for the airplanes is shown on TCDS A6WE, Revision 30, dated March 25, 2014, for parts not changed or not affected by this change.

The certification basis for parts changed or affected by this change is based upon Part 25 as amended through Amendment 25-146 and Part 26 as amended through Amendment 26-6.

Based on 14 CFR Sections 21.115 and 21.101, and FAA policy for significant changes in FAA Order 8110.48A, the certification basis for the MD-81, MD-82, MD-83, MD-87 and MD-88 aircraft to be modified by the STC design data are as follows:
