From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft lifted off, caught by gusting winds. (-4)the commercial pilot reported local winds to be 15 knots with gusts to 50 knots. He was repositioning the helicopter to an area 200 yards away and executed a downwind departure from a hover. The approach to land was also downwind with a pedal turn approximately 30 to 50 feet AGL. The aircraft drifted laterally in a right direct crosswind and the left skid contacted the ground. The helicopter then rolled left and the main rotor blades struck the ground.
