From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: at approximately 1503L the aircraft made a safe landing at air lake municipal airport due to excellent piloting skills displayed by gene green. Minimal damage (estimated @ $1500) was done, the primary cost being approximately $1200 for nose gear doors. Sheriff's report and video tape which recorded the entire event is on file in the msp FSDO if necessary. Suspected rearward tow of aircraft broke off two small ears which prevents nosegear overcenter mechanism from allowing gear to retract. This is suspected to have allowed the nose gear to collapse when weight was applied as the video indicates. Apparent cause does not require further FAA intervention.
