From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on March 6, 1995, at 1995 CDT, a Saab 340-B, N194AE, operated by flagship airlines, inc. as flight 4617, was on descent to Greater Peoria Airport when the captain noticed flashing from the right side of the aircraft. The first officer looked out his window and noticed that the number two engine had a fire in the intake. He called for the emergency checklist. The crew attempted to extinguish the fire with the #2 engine fire bottle. This did not work due to the fire's location. They proceeded to shut the engine down, and at that time, the fire was extinguished. The aircraft crew and passengers landed at Peoria without further incident. Upon inspection by a company mechanic that was dispatched from maintenance control, it was found that the lower duct heat mat shorted out causing the inlet fire. The duct is heated by wires inside it. Once the electrical power to the engine was shut down, the fire extinguished itself.
