From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft departed oscoda, MI enroute to ypsilanti, MI. Pilot reported a loud crunching noise when gear retracted. The gear was cycled back down but nose gear did not lock down. Aircraft proceeded to yip. A tower fly-by revealed the nose gear appeared down. A landing was made on runway 27L. On roll-out, nose gear collapsed. There were no injuries and minor damage to the aircraft. Investigation revealed the bolts on the nose gear retract torque shaft sheared and the nose gear retracted on the nose gear doors. The load broke the right nose gear trunnion fitting, which prevented the nose gear from locking down. privacy data omitted
