From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: Continental express flight 3470, ATR-42, N31807, departed Albany enroute to newark when during climbout the #2 engine torque dropped from 90% to 25%, then back up briefly. The captain shutdown and secured the #2 engine, notified ATC and returned to Albany for an uneventful landing. Maintenance personnel from newark arrived to check fuel filters and perform engine run which did not show any problems. A fuel contamination check was performed at signature (alb) and found to be satisfactory. As a precaution the hmu, fuel pump, and filters were changed. Aircraft was returned to service. The pmi was notified by telephone for follow-up action. This incident is closed.
