From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: champion 7ECA N1967T piloted by jan thorne landed on runway 10L at Billings Montana Logan airport. During the rollout the aircraft began an uncontrollable turn to the right. The pilot stated that both left brake and left rudder with power bursts failed to stop the right hand turn off the runway. Investigation revealed the cause of the turn to be a combination of a broken tail wheel spring and an axle separation of the right main gear. The axle showed signs of a pre-existing crack about 1/2 way around the diameter. No action is anticipated regarding the pilot.
