From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: jetway was operated beyond the swing limits causing limit switch to trip disabling jetway in a position which did not afford wing clearance. The taxi director, a qualified new hire, directed the aircraft out assuming there was sufficient clearance. The left wing struck the jetway damaging the #1 leading edge slat and tip. Non-certificated taxi director, properly trained, caused aircraft left wing to be damaged by not assuring adequate clearance during taxi out. privacy data omitted Station management has issued new procedures for both power out and jetway operation.
