From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: normal two pilot operation but because this was a maintenance run to Dayton, only one pilot performed preflight & towed aircraft from hangar. Tug started to roll, causing concern to pilot, who then forgot to go back and get tow bar. He approached a/c from the rear, got in, & departed MFD. He experienced a/c yaw which stopped when gear was raised, but then had a gear problem indication. He realized what he had done, called ATC at day and asked for fly-by to confirm. He landed without further incident. Damage only sustained to nose gear doors. privacy data omitted
