From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft landed in field north of the airport following an engine failure. Preliminary investigation found number 4 connecting rod protruded the engine case, engine mount broken, and right magneto came off the mounting flange. It appears that the rear main bearing spun out of position and blocked the oil flow to the number 4 connecting rod bearing which caused it to overheat and fail. Malfunction or defect report has been requested from operator after the engine is disassembled to ascertain failure. This incident is closed.
