From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Lost power. Forced landing. Magneto cover came loose. Crossfired. Using unaproved dirty fuel. No fuel STC. (-23) the accident investigation revealed an unapproved fuel was being used in the operation. A fuel sample drawn from the strainer revealed water mixed with some dirt and a straw color. The engine inspection performed found the left magneto cover off the magneto base. Of the four screws that hold the cover on, only one screw was found and it had sheared off. With this cover coming loose the magneto is believed to have started to crossfire causing the engine to lose power.
