From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot reports he was landing at PA85 on runway 33 with no wind, landing was normal and he didn't use the brakes since it appeared to him he had sufficient runway length to coast down to taxi speed. He attempted to use an area of taller grass at the end of runway to turn around when he struck a small 8" deep ditch at approximately 5 mph causing the aircraft's left main landing gear to break at the attach point. Additionally the left wing tip was damaged. No action required. Submission of this report closes the investigation.
