From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: when flt 581 departed mci the nose landing gear strut did not allow the ground shift mechanism to operate. The aircraft did not pressurize and the crew realized that the aircraft systems were still in the ground mode. They returned to mci and had an uneventful landing. No evacuation. The contract maintenance personnel serviced the NLG strut with nitrogen to the DC-9 maintenance manual per mwea instructions. No fluid loss was noted. The aircraft was returned to service. This incident is considered closed with this report.
