From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: trans world airlines, flight 199, a Boeing 727-231, inbound stl-sat, experienced a door indication of the aft air stair door, which is not in the pressure vessel. The flight crew determined that the door had loosened from its latches and had begun opening. The flight landed at sat without incident. Maintenance determined the d.b. cooper latch was wedged between the door frame and door, not allowing full closure. Upon inspection, the crew took precautionary action and used a rope to ensure that the door was safely closed. There were no injuries and no fire. This incident is considered closed.
