From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on 2/09/96, air midwest flight 5691 attempted take off from mci, when take off torque was selected, inlet turbine temperature (itt) rose to 820 degree and continued climbing. The crew aborted take off and retarded the throttles to ground idle. Itt decreased to 650 degree, then shot up to redline. The maximum temperature observed was 950 degree itt. Maintenance removed the new bleed valve from the left engine. The valve was stuck in the open position, plus the o-ring, and reworked the bleed valve. The aircraft operational check was good, and the aircraft was returned to service. This incident is considered closed.
