From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot stated that on a flight from lafayette, la to albuquerque, n.m. he stopped and refueled at okmulgee, Oklahoma. He then departed okmulgee and climbed to 8500 ft and leveled off. The right engine quit after he leveled off and he feathered the right propeller and notified Oklahoma City approach of his situation and they gave him vector to Tinker air force base. The pilot stated that the left engine quit as he was changing course to Tinker air force base, and he found an open field and landed the aircraft. An on-the-scene investigation revealed that the aircraft had only minor damage. The nose gear doors were damaged and the left prop bent with a dent in the left engine cowling and the l/h fuselage dented. Right engine had internal failure resulting in rods through case. Left engine appears to be operable but further investigation may reveal that it quit for some reason. The pilot was confused at the scene as to which engine he shut down. privacy data omitted
