What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: the pilot, george matey, had been doing some flying close to the airport and landed on runway 26 at N79. The initial touchdown and landing was 200' from the approach end of runway 26. The landing was "near perfect", according to an eye-witness who observed the landing. The wind was straight down the runway at 10-12 knots with gusts. The aircraft was in a three-point attitude rolling down the runway, and about 2000' after touchdown a wind gust caused the aircraft to come off of the runway surface. When the aircraft landed again, it was a hard landing causing damage to the left wheel and the aircraft then veered off the runway in a left turn. It came to rest in a shallow ditch, damaging the main gear and shattering the wooden propeller. The pilot was not injured. This incident is considered closed.
