From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: during VFR cruise from faribault, MN to slayton, MN pilot observed a decrease in oil pressure. Pilot attempted to land at a closer airport - mankato - than his destination but engine failed. Pilot made an emergency landing on a township highway 5 miles east of mankato airport, near Madison Lake. There were no injuries nor was the aircraft damaged. Loss of engine oil was probably through the prop governor which I observed the control head had separated from the gov. Body due apparently to an improperly secured locking device.

As the FAA filed it
