From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on may 2, 1996, Cessna 414A encountered moderate to heavy turbulence while en-route from yankton, SD to Omaha, NE Eppley Airfield. The turbulence induced a momentary uncommanded gear extension and subsequent retraction. The PIC elected to perform a precautionary gear extension to verify correct operation. The landing gear appeared to extend normally with 3 safe landing gear indications. However, the gear in transit light remained illuminated and the gear warning horn would actuate with flaps beyond the approach position. Following several cycle attempts & ATCT visual check, PIC elected to discharge emergency blowdown bottle. No changes were noted. PIC declared an emergency & landed without incident on Eppley Airfield runway 14R. On may 24, 1996, troubleshooting efforts initiated by elliott aviation, inc., at the Omaha, NE facility discovered an intermittent nose landing gear uplock switch pn:B23YT, which caused the landing gear to cycle in the retract position. This incident is closed with this report.
