From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft N9659X on takeoff from lyh attempted to retract gear without success. The pilot attempted to extend the gear numerous times, but only the nose gear cycled. After 21/2 hours of flight in the Lynchburg, Virginia area the pilot opted for gear-up landing at lyh. There were no injuries, and the aircraft had minor damage. The prop was damaged, and engine had sudden stoppage. There were no apparent FAR violations. The landing gear malfunction was probably caused by hydraulic power pack internal problem.
