From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: aircraft departed fll, enroute to ocean reef airport. Upon reaching ocean reef airport at approximately 12:04 p.m. local time and preparing to land, the pilot heard an unusual noise coming from #2 engine. The pilot then decided not to land on ocean reef and gained altitude. After gaining some altitude and declaring an emergency, he then shut down #2 engine after noticing "0" oil pressure and high EGT. The pilot continued with the flight and landed at fll with #2 engine inoperative. The pilot stated that he flew back to fll because the maintenance organization that works on his aircraft is based at fll. Closer inspection revealed that #2 engine was very hard to turn and the turbine was rubbing the engine case. Engine is to be removed and sent to garett air-research for tear down.
