From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: pilot level at 13,000 ft. in VFR conditions, IFR flight plan GPS direct to portland, Maine. Experienced total electrical failure. Blame was placed on disintegration of the left alternator with parts shorting the main buss. This caused the right alternator to take full load and short out. Pilot landed uneventfully at Wilkes-Barre airport. Review of aircraft and engine after the incident revealed no prior mechanical discrepancies with the alternators. Malfunction and defect report to be filed. Submission of this report closes the investigation.
