From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: airman was cleared for takeoff on runway 6R but departed on the "closed" portion of runway 24L. FAA facilities; day hosts an annual "trap/skeet" shoot located on the south west corner of the airport property and adjacent to the departure end of runway 24L. During this competition, the last 3,000 feet of rnwy 24L is notam'd closed. The controller tapes provided to the cvg FSDO indicates enough confusion on the part of the airman, (from his first call up to and through out his progressive), that the local controller should have been more situationally aware of the situation that was developing. privacy data omitted Airman/air agency competence: the airman needed to use his "airport diagram" which he admits he had on his lap and once on the active runway, confirm his assigned rnwy with a cross-check of his directional gyro and not be hesitant to ask for clarification of directions from the LCL controller.
