What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: on Saturday, August 17, 1996 at approximately 1940 EST, Mr. Charles a. maidment was flying his paraplane model PSE-2 when witnesses saw the right portion of the parachute collapse. The witnesses stated the parachute started to spin and dropped down into a bean field. Mr. Maidment was transported to a local hospital wher he died a few hours later due to massive internal injuries. The paraplane involved in this incident did not, and was not required to have an FAA registration certificate on board. After a database search, it was determined that Mr. Maidment does not hold a pilot certificate. Since the paraplane was operated as an ultralight and was not required to have a registration certificate, and a fatal injury was received, this incident record is being made only for tracking purposes.
