From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: on descent into Kansas City, sw airlines flt 846, the master caution light illuminated the hyd quantity for "a" system was decreasing rapidly. The crew shut off the a system pumps when the quantity reached 1/4. "A" system hydraulics were declared inoperative and the crew declared an emergency. The landing at mci was uneventful, and required no evacuation. The aircraft was towed to the sw gate and the passengers were deplaned. Contract maintenance at mci (vanguard airlines) evaluated the loss of hydraulic fluid and discovered that the left wing, outboard actuator for the inboard ground spoiler was leaking. The unit was spraying fluid from the top of the assembly. The actuator was changed out with a serviceable unit and the aircraft was returned to service. This incident is considered closed with this report.
