From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: captain stone stated he was making a visual approach to runway 17R at Lubbock International Airport. It was a clear night and he had the runway in sight at 20+ miles. This runway is not served with any sort of VASI but does have a published ILS approach. The tail skid made marks about 10 feet short of the runway threshold and continued approximately 30 feet beyond the threshold this damaged the tailskid, drainmast and UHF antenna. The crew was grounded by the co. chief pilot and given a simulator check on 9/3/96 which they completed satisfactorily. The captain given a line check on 9/5/96 which was also satisfactory.
